How We Rate

Why We Rate

We want to help. Period. That's why we created The Steady Dollar. We know first hand how difficult it can be to navigate all of the financial brands, products, and services out there, so we worked hard to create a way to make sense of all of that, saving thousands of people a day what is arguably the most valuable asset on the planet: time.

We think that's pretty cool, but we're also here on this planet give back to non-profit organizations aligned with our values buy donating our personal time, and by donating a portion of our revenue to these organizations as well.

For more information about the organizations we're currently donating to, simply click on the logos below to learn more.

How We Rate

We're numbers people. To create the rankings and ratings you see on this site, we compile a veritable ton of data, run it through a set of proprietary cascading algorithms, add a slice of lemon, and voila. Ok, maybe no lemon, but you get the idea. At any given point in time, thousands of consumer decisions are used in our rating process in order to predictively rank the companies rated on our site.

We do our best to rank as many companies as possible, but we don't necessarily include all of the companies available in the marketplace. We also endeavor to provide the latest and greatest information and offers, but companies can change their offerings or terms at any time, so when in doubt, check the merchant's site for the most up-to-date info.

How We Make Money

We are proud to provide a free, user-supported service. It takes a surprising amount of time and effort to do the things we do, which is why we partner with some or all of the companies feature on The Steady Dollar, receiving advertising or referral fees when people like you buy from them, and stuff. You are in no way required to click through our links to businesses or services featured on our site, but we sure appreciate it when you do! It helps us keep the lights on (or, you know, the servers running in our data center…).
